his
is an account of the Liebman family, whose earliest extant records in the Zemplén region
of Hungary (now Slovakia) date to the 19th century. Many of their descendants emigrated to the United States
and settled in New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, most
Anglicizing their surname as Loveman. Several distinguished
themselves in literature and business and one did so in military
service. Others remained in Europe and met horrible fates at the
hands of the Nazis; a few improbably survived the Holocaust. This website
tells many of their stories.
